VOX India, one of the established names in the realm of building materials, has recently announced its association with Wankhede Stadium. The surface solutions major has revamped the ceiling structures of the iconic venue with its premier product, the Soffit ceiling. This project was undertaken over the past few months and completed in time for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
Earlier this year, Shashi Prabhu & Associates, the architectural firm engaged in the renovation of the Wankhede Stadium, got impressed with the innovative interior décor solutions of VOX, and on the strength of the company’s previous contributions to the renovation of Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium, the contract to renovate the ceiling structures of the Pavillion and VIP areas and Players sections of the Wankhede Stadium was given to VOX.
The Wankhede Stadium has borne witness to some of the most memorable moments in cricketing history. Conscious of the immense significance and sense of national pride attached to the space, VOX’s team of expert designers and craftsmen worked closely with the architects to deliver a truly exceptional ceiling design solution.
Speaking on the development, Varun Poddar, Founder, VOX India, said, “It is truly an honour to have the opportunity to work on a space as iconic as the Wankhede Stadium, in the lead-up to the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023! Much like our cricketing heroes, we at VOX India embody a commitment to the spirit of collaboration, and to the highest standards of innovation and excellence. We have worked very closely with the team at Shashi Prabhu & Associates to create a ceiling that is sure to dazzle audiences and that is worthy of the champions who will grace the stadium.”
Notably, VOX - an established European brand - started its operation in India in 2018 with its flagship products – Infratop ceiling systems, Façade System, SPC Flooring, Kerradeco Decorative Wall System and Acoustic Ceilings. This project reflects the VOX India’s dedication to inspiring spaces that bring people together and elevate their experience. The company has previously undertaken similar projects for Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium, Chennai’s Chidambaram Stadium, and the Odisha Cricket Association.
Since 1989, the Voelkel family, the driving force behind the brand, has established VOX as a symbol of independence, originality, and creativity in business. With a legacy of over three decades, VOX has now established a presence in India through its association with the former promoters of Ashirvad pipes. Founded in 1975, Ashirvad pipes, renowned as the largest CPVC and column pipe manufacturer globally, concluded its operations in 2018 after being acquired by the Aliaxis group.
