The design has the power to uplift and narrate a space’s story, turning it into a canvas of expression and inspiration much like a poem. That’s exactly what, Gaurav Panjwani and Santosh Belani, the principal designers of Studio GSA wanted the interiors for Kosh Furniture Studio to be—a visual poem, inspiring every passage, nook and corner.
Fluidity as a concept
The plan of the furniture and furnishing store is fluid, with spaces flowing into one another, demarcated into zones by screens, drapes and furniture pieces that become part of the display. The interior shell is kept neutral with textured tile flooring and concrete finish texture paint on the walls, providing a muted canvas for the store’s vibrant products to shine.
Interplay of Materials
The journey of the store envisioned as a Poetry in Passages, begins at an arched metal double door with bronze-tinted bevel glass, offering a glimpse into the studio’s artistic core. The entry is adorned with wallpaper, a wooden-topped console, and intricately carved wooden panels on one side, while an armchair with fabric hung in the backdrop, and a metal screen occupies the other side, setting the tone of the interior. This intentional play of materials and textures not only highlights the store’s versatility but also hints at possibilities of what can be achieved with the store’s rich offerings. The central space anchors the store with a large circular sofa set against an arched wooden panel. A chandelier from J.M.D Crafts & Creation adds to the space’s luxurious atmosphere, highlighting the veneer partitions, while MDF arch mouldings and Sabyasachi wallpaper add to its architectural elegance, inviting conversation and intimate exploration of the furniture.
To the left of the central zone, a passage leads to a reception and two informal discussion areas, one featuring a standard-height circular table, and the other a taller rectangular one. These variations break the visual monotony, as well as allow the store to display a wide range of furniture designs, catering to a diverse audience. Beyond this, an archway leads to private workspaces, the accounts area, and the director’s cabin. Dressed in darker, polished classical furniture and Mindthegap wallpaper wrapping the room, the cabin creates an intimate yet professional atmosphere befitting the space.
Experience Center
To the right of the central zone, tucked between a fabric display and a blind gallery, sits an experience center where one can see their space come to life. Tucked discreetly within this area, at the entry an unassuming door leads to a warm, intimate and vibrant conference room. An Arte wallcovering furnishes the room, with a cement top table and gold-accented furniture adding to the space's richness. Plush curtains and organic fabrics complete the space’s sophisticated look. Every corner of the space reflects a meticulous attention to detail. From the moment visitors step through the arched doors, they are immersed in a world where every element speaks to the possibilities of transformation. The interplay of textures—from cement tiles to patterned wallpapers, a curation of furniture from sofa sets and tables to consoles, contributes to this immersive experience. The entire studio, much like a well-crafted poem, harmonizes contrasting elements into a seamless flow, leaving visitors inspired and moved by the beauty of its composition.
