Designed by 3 Minds Perspective studio, this residential modern design tells the tale of materiality and individuality. Branching away from the lively chaos of daily life in Mumbai, this 3800 sqft modern luxury-style residence incorporating vastu principles in Pune is a place to unwind and reconnect. This house resembles a masterful fusion of classic design principles with cutting-edge materials resulting in a residence that feels both familiar and refreshingly innovative.

A Brief Overview of Modern Luxury Home

A young Mumbai couple in their early 30s, with their playful golden retrievers and a bouncing 6-month-old, entrusted 3 Minds Perspective studio with designing their dream escape. This was not their first rodeo; they craved a second home that pulsed with dynamism and vibrancy, yet possessed a subtle elegance. Customization was paramount – a space that resonated with their energetic personalities and fostered family togetherness. The wife, a creative soul, yearned for a bold color palette, a unique fingerprint on each room, ensuring a house that sparkled with individuality.

Design Challenge 

Ensuring a pet-friendly home for the couple’s energetic golden retrievers (both with arthritis) presented a unique design challenge. This required anti-skid flooring throughout the house, but most such materials lacked aesthetic variety. To address this, they opted for a playful brick-bat joint pattern in the living room, transforming standard tiles into a visually interesting element. Safety being the priority – furniture and fabrics underwent rigorous testing to ensure both elegance and durability for the pets and toddlers. From custom-manufactured elements to thoroughly revised designs every detail reflects passion. Various challenges have been overcome, from transforming a toddler's room into a room filled with activities to crafting the opulent master bathroom with its exquisite brass details. 

Spatial Arrangement of Spaces

The spatial configuration of the house revolved around a client-centric approach, which was to align it with Vaastu principles. This led us to make significant changes in the initial floor plan, to create a more welcoming entrance for the guests as well as an open and safe space for toddlers and pets to move around freely. It was achieved by breaking down several walls, rounding off sharp surfaces and softening edgy furniture pieces. They also opted for soft comfortable fabrics and materials for the flooring and furniture that are child and pet-friendly.

Incorporating Vastu 

Accommodating the client’s desire for a Vaastu-compliant home, designers integrated Vastu principles into the design, ensuring they complemented rather than dominated the aesthetics. The entrance diligently reconfigured to face north according to Vastu, exemplifies this
thoughtful approach.

Modern Luxury Style

This stunning home embodies modern luxury style. Arched hallways and a focus on open space create a sense of grandeur, while high-quality materials like marble countertops, dining tables and hardwood floors for bedrooms add a touch of sophistication. Floor-to-ceiling windows bathe the interior in natural light and offer breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. Carefully chosen statement pieces, like the laser cut 3D print artwork along with vibrant flooring patterns create a visual interest without overwhelming the minimalist aesthetic.

Material and Collaboration 

This project exemplifies the magic of collaboration, where trendy materials ignited the creative spark and brought a client's dream to life. Inspiration stemmed from a deep understanding of their needs – a space that seamlessly blended modern functionality with subtle sophistication. They envisioned subtle luxury achieved through timeless elements and materials. The availability of innovative options like exquisite imported marbles, PU finishes, quartz countertops and anti-skid tiles, fuelled design exploration. Further inspired by the enduring appeal of harlequin patterns, which are evergreen, and reimagined for a modern audience within the foyer flooring. The guest bedroom embraced the perennial elegance of rattan, a material experiencing a well-deserved revival. The incorporation of curves and organic lines throughout the design adds a touch of softness, creating a space as safe and visually calming as it is inviting. 

Hues of Room 

It transcends the ordinary, embodying the essence of Pantone 2023 color trends. While a symphony of reds – from wine and crimson to playful scarlet – sets the stage for a vibrant and undeniably bold atmosphere, a masterful selection of complementary tones creates a pleasantly sophisticated and inviting sanctum. This thoughtful curation ensures each room feels distinct yet cohesive, fostering a sense of flow and connection as you move throughout the space. But beauty extends far beyond colour. With carefully incorporated fine details, using elements like metal accents, stonework and fluted panels adds depth and texture. 

Soothing Curves

This interplay of colour and materiality elevates the design to a whole new level. A deliberate decision, the use of arches throughout the house, envisioned by “3 minds perspective”, softens the space with soothing curves and creates a sense of connectivity between different areas. The use of textures throughout the apartment is anything but an afterthought. Layering a variety of textures creates a visually stimulating space, drawing the eye to captivating focal points.

This interplay of textures showcases the rich character of the home, hinting at the diverse craftsmanship employed to achieve its unique personality. The beauty of furniture customization in India lies in its adaptability - every detail, from size to material, can be personalized to bring your vision to life which was achieved by using a custom-printed tile for our kid's bathroom design which showcases a jungle theme that was adored by the client. The immaculate mandir space, featuring mosaic marble flooring and an onyx stone deity backdrop, exemplifies the commitment to pushing boundaries with materials. The intricately fluted marble at the entrance, a demonstration of skilled craftsmanship, adds another layer of refinement. 

They aimed to create a space that resonated with the client’s bold and avant-garde nature, offering a sense of peace and positive energy without sacrificing vibrancy. The design avoids overwhelming elements, achieving a calming yet characterful abode. This residential project wasn’t just a job; it was a labor of love.
